When I joined DA when I was 13, I thought mental illness were duh shitz cuz all da kewl ppl had dem & wer creative! Then I pulled my head out of my ass, saw people with real mental illness and I got straightened up real quick about the matter.

<EDIT> There are how many stamps now of BAWW RAEP IS NAWT FUNNI, SEXI, TRENDEE. So what makes mental illness funny, sexy or trendy? Explain this to me...

I agree with this stamp, having mental illnesses suck like hell. People think they'll be seen as cute and they tell people that they're depressed or have OCD, and I'm just sat there saying, 'tell me how cute you'd feel if you were sectioned and locked up against your will, having to shit and shower in front of nurses.' People like that SUCK.

I fucking hate it when people say, "Oh, I'm just OCD about my coffee!"

OCD IS NOT A FUCKING EMOTION! IT IS AN ANXIETY DISORDER.

YOU ARE JUST PICKY ABOUT SOMETHING. I don't give two SHITS if people use it as slang. It is a disorder. Period.

(Also being schizophrenic is NOT fun. All the people I know who have it hate being stuck with it.)

I say I'm insane jokingly, mostly in situations where I mess up. But, people who think they are literally insane, no.. Just no..

I don't have any kind of mental illness (or at least I don't think so) but I know people like this. And it's all I can do to clench my fists and breathe slowly and not grind them to a pulp.

Yeah, I hate when people do that. If they lived in a day in someone's life with a mental illness, they would take every single one of those words back.

Lol,, most of people I knew who proclaim themselves as mentally ill are actually just lazy cowards who live inside their own head and use this so called "mental ilness" as an excuse for whatever reason and to make themselves feel unique. They had average lifes and families, and acted pretty much normal when I talked to them...

Ugh, I hate when people pretend they have mental illnesses. I'm diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and depression, both of which are apparently jokes to most people-- I see "autistic" tossed around as an insult or a go-to word to describe those who are either awkward or obsessed with something, and I swear not everyone on the internet who says they're clinically depressed actually is. It's even worse if people start trying to call themselves insane, or saying they have, idk, multiple personality disorder or something else when they obviously don't. I feel that it takes away from the seriousness of mental disorders and makes it harder for people who are struggling to be able to reach out. I for one refrained from talking about how suicidal I was with anyone, including my therapist, until after I'd already attempted to kill myself and had to be hospitalized, just because of the stigma around that sort of thing. It gets written off as just attention-seeking behaviour, and it's so hard to get actual help when you're not taken seriously. I understand if people vent online every now and again about their problems (it can be nice to have a few supportive comments and the ability to be anonymous about everything), but it's annoying when I see someone who acts like a total attention whore by playing up any mental illness(es) they claim to have.
The stupid behaviour that people display towards these kinds of problems is in part what caused me to leave DeviantART before. *sigh*
