I never took a formal class, but I have several "How to draw this-thing-or-that-thing" books lying around... and I like to have constructive criticism, it's helpful.
Kids on deviantART also need to realize high school art ≠ art school. At all. So bitching about your (not you, of course, but the collective) art class not teaching you anything does not equate to all art education being useless.
I took art all the way through junior high and high school but I had to take drawing courses from UT Arlington in order to get in to art school. Then on the first day in Illustration I, the prof told all of us to toss everything we'd learned in high school art out the window because none of it was correct. As it turns out, he was right. High school art didn't even teach us the correct primary colors. It totally blew our minds when we were let in on that little secret.
Thank you for showing off your complete and utter lack of reading comprehension skills, dear -- that has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. If you didn't feel so threatened by artists who attended art school you just might have realized that, as well as the fact that I never said whether or not I was able to pay for my education out of pocket.
But you know what? Since you are apparently unaware of this, I will let you in on a little secret:
There are these great things called "loans", "scholarships", and "grants". They're also known as "financial aid". Most colleges even have entire offices solely devoted to handling "financial aid" for their students! In fact, over 75% of the students at the school I attended were on "financial aid". Wow!
The stupidity of kids your age never ceases to amaze me.
