quality and quantity

Earlier today I had to put my ferret, Lily, to sleep. Because of the tumors in her pancreas caused by her Insulinoma- she was in extreme pain. The only thing that they could do for her was to give her a shot for the pain that would sedate her but once it wore off- she would be back where we started. My mom had wanted me to get her the shot but having to live doped up all the time is not a quality life.

I am also a strong supporter of "Death with Dignity". I have never understood why it is considered humane to put a suffering animal down but doctors will let you suffer until you go naturally.
